Microcredit and Indigenous people: A Study of Selected Areas in Bangladesh
Abstract
The study was conducted with the objective of
analyzing the impact of microcredit on the development of the indigenous people
in three upazilas under three districts of Bangladesh. Data were collected both
from secondary as well as primary sources. A multi stage sampling technique was
used to select the district and the upazilas. On the whole three hundred
respondents were selected from three upazilas namely Modhupur, Birampur & t
on the basis of convenience of the researchers. The study revealed that
microcredit interventions created a great positive impact as compared to their
former position. In the areas of employment, education, living standard,
indebtedness related issues etc. The study recommended that the indigenous
people should give economic opportunities in the local economy to develop
themselves in every sphere of their life. Local administration should give them
social protection of their tangible & intangible assets.
